Who are we?
Sounds of the Diaspora is a creative community platform connecting Black and Global Majority communities through music, storytelling and shared cultural experience.
We exist to create spaces where people can gather, express themselves, and feel a sense of belonging rooted in culture, shaped by community and carried through sound.
Our work lives at the intersection of creativity, identity, and well-being.
Sounds of the Diaspora began as a grassroots initiative built through passion, creativity, and a desire to create something meaningful.
Since then, we’ve grown through self-funding, community support, and collective effort, supported by the Miranda Brawn Diversity Leadership Foundation Grant and the Harvard Spark Grant.
Our journey reflects the communities we serve: resourceful, resilient, and deeply connected.
We’re now building towards a more sustainable future, expanding our reach across London & the UK, Boston and digital spaces.
Our work speaks for itself.
We’ve launched a podcast, hosted engaging events across the world and developed programs that spark important conversations about identity, creativity and social change. Our podcast blends personal stories with educational insights to encourage curiosity and connection. So far, our events have welcomed over 500 participants, bringing people together through music, art and discussion to build a stronger, more informed community.
